Nicalis is bringing the vertically-oriented sci-fi shmup Ikaruga to Nintendo Switch at the end of this month. Ikaruga on Switch has single-player and local, two-player coop play, along with “global leaderboards that can be accessed online for tracking high scores.” The Switch version also lets you flip the Switch vertically for “arcade-style TATE mode action,” making it true to its arcade roots. The top-down, bullet hell shoot ’em up has a lot of descriptors, but essentially combines the fast action of a schmup with a polarity system for strategy. Whereas most games in the genre will end quickly if you…

Fortnite Season 4 may have brought a giant meteor with it, colliding with parts of the map and changing the landscape, but it’s nothing compared to the discovery that Orange Shirt Kid’s dance made it into the game after all. When we first reviewed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Wii U in 2014, we gave it a 9.0, for Amazing. Here’s what we said about it then: “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a great platformer full of tense sequences and tough levels. Multiplayer could use some improvement, but I found myself laughing whenever my teammate and I wiped out on some of these unforgiving setups. But a rewarding sense of accomplishment stuck with me each time I overcame a new obstacle, and that…

Undead Labs has announced a technical beta for State of Decay 2 on Xbox One and PC. Eager beavers can sign up here, although like the people in the subreddit, you might encounter a few issues, like the page looping or failing to load altogether. But persevere and you should get there in the end. You’ll need to have an Xbox Live login for all platforms, and there’s a short survey to fill out beforehand so that Microsoft can gather that sweet demographic data. After that, it should be smooth sailing. Continue reading…Powered by WPeMatico
