Sony shared additional details on God of War at the PSX 2017 opening ceremony, including its development progress and length. Santa Moncia Studios’ creative director Cory Barlog revealed God of War is in its final phases, and they’re currently play testing. “I’m feeling very good about things,” Barlog said. “I would love to be able to tell people when we’re going to release it, but my dog ate the release date, so I don’t have that right now.” God of War is still expected to be released in 2018. Originally, Barlog expected God of War to last about 15 hours, but…

The 2017 edition of The Game Awards was a fantastic show, full of wonderful developer speeches, sterling games from throughout the year being recognized, and outstanding world premieres of upcoming titles. But who saw their stock rise at the event, and whose stock plummeted? Who crushed it and who got dented? From Josef Fares to Link’s motorcycle, these are the 2017 Game Awards’ biggest winners and losers. Nintendo When The Game Awards first began, Nintendo was a Wii U-fueled punchline. Fast-forward to 2017, and they’re back on top of the world. Everyone expected The Big N to clean up in…

The eighth season of competitive Overwatch begins in January, and Blizzard is making some big changes in preparation. Scott Mercer, Principle Designer for Overwatch, announced on the Battle.net Forums changes coming to the game, which include limiting the maximum difference in Skill Rating (SR) between players, and eliminating Personal Performance Skill Rating adjustments for players at or above Diamond tier. The first big change being made is limiting the maximum SR difference between players. In my review of WWE 2K18 on the other platforms, I had a mostly positive experience with the still-solid wrestling gameplay but criticized it for not addressing the modes and features that needed the most work after WWE 2K17, and for the especially underwhelming MyCareer and Universe Modes. I gave it a 7.0, for Good. Unfortunately, the Switch version of WWE 2K18 is an inconsistent, buggy mess, and even if the wrestling was as strong as Mark Henry, it still wouldn’t save what is one of the worst ports in the Switch’s library. It’s to be expected that a Switch…

With a beautiful art style and dynamic twin-stick combat, Nine Parchments is a dungeon crawler that shines best in a co-op group of up to four players. However, with such a shallow pool of loot to change things up for repeated playthroughs, this action RPG leans a little bit on the repetitive side. Nine Parchments tells a light story of a group of drop-out wizard apprentices who’ve decided to skip their normal training regimen for a quick path to power by gathering artifacts. Its whimsical tone is very similar to developer Frozenbyte’s charming Trine trilogy, which makes sense because Nine…

The image of Link riding the Master Cycle Zero in the release trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s second DLC expansion pack may have been surprising, but Nintendo teased a bike-riding Link for the newest entry in the franchise earlier this year. During the Breath of the Wild GDC 2017 panel in March, members of the Zelda development team showed off a host of concept art for potential Link’s they dreamed up ahead of BotW’s development. One of those Link’s was a more realistic, bike-riding version of the character. Continue reading…Powered by WPeMatico
