Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone (aka ConcernedApe) is planning to launch the game’s multiplayer beta this spring. Barone revealed progress on the game’s multiplayer update is coming along nicely. This is thanks to Tom Coxon, who’s helped Barone with completing all the network coding to turn Stardew Valley into a multiplayer game. As such, work on the new features is finished with the new text currently being translated into different languages. Once Barone receives the new text, the next step would be QA testing and then, hopefully, the launch of the beta. “Once we’ve received the translated text and integrated it back into…

Even after a presentation at D23 Expo Japan, we still don’t know exactly when in 2018 Kingdom Hearts III is coming, but during the presentation a lot of new information about the game has come to light. Many of this got lost in translation since the presentation was not streamed and only in Japanese, but IGN Japan was in the room, so let us tell you all the cool new things we learned about the game. Let’s start with the obvious stuff. In the newly revealed trailer, Monsters, Inc. was introduced as the second Pixar world introduced for the game…

As far as free to play games go it’s hard to keep and maintain an audience. Getting something for free means no risk on the consumer’s part; they can come in and get out relatively quickly if they don’t like it. It says a lot about a free game that’s managed to not only regularly increase its player base, and also crank out enough regular content to keep the most hardcore players occupied, but that’s exactly what Grinding Gear Games has been able to do with Path of Exile. This spring it will receive a new update – titled Bestiary…

What I’m about to tell you isn’t some grand insight or revelation. I’m simply going to tell you what we’re all thinking, in the (fairly unlikely) event that the Powers That Be at Zombie THQ (aka THQ Nordic) aren’t also already thinking it: Red Faction Guerrilla 2 can and absolutely should happen now. Yesterday, THQ Nordic – which has been quietly getting the band back together recently – made their biggest THQ Reunion 2018 move yet, acquiring Deep Silver and its owner, Koch Media. Deep Silver, you may recall, ended up with both the Saints Row franchise and Saints Row…

When Essential launched its inaugural handset, the PH-1, the hype was off the charts. Essential touted the edge-to-edge design, modular magnetic accessories, and near-stock home screen and apps. The only problem was the phone didn’t live up to any of it. It arrived more than a month late. The accessories were limited to a single high-priced camera. And the stunning sea-green color was nowhere to be seen.Six months later, Essential is fixing the least important of those problems. Starting today, you can buy a PH-1 in the limited-edition Ocean Depths blue-green for $599 (as well as stellar gray on February…

Ash of Gods, an upcoming turn-based tactical RPG from Aurum Dust, clearly wears its inspiration on its sleeve. Scrolling past screenshots it’s perfectly natural to think it’s a spinoff or sequel to The Banner Saga, but it’s actually got nothing to do with Stoic Studio’s viking adventure. In fact, Ash of Gods’ dark and desperate medieval world has more in common with the Dark Ages than any other era. I recently got my hands on a brief hour-long demo build and played through the tutorial, two more fights, and a handful of dialog scenes and choice-driven area exploration. It’s hard…

Here’s what we know: John Cena is in negotiations to star in a movie adaptation of Duke Nukem. The project currently sits at Paramount and Platinum Dunes, a mid-size studio known for franchise horror and the most recent live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. With no director or writer attached, it’s unclear whether Duke Nukem will even go ahead. But if it does, it faces sizeable creative hurdles. For one thing, Duke Nukem isn’t exactly current. The franchise’s tortured last outing, 2011’s Duke Nukem Forever, suffered from an overwhelming negative response. Even the series’ high point, Duke Nukem 3D, is…

The news sounds bad at first blush: Researchers from Nvidia and Princeton University have discovered fresh ways to exploit the Meltdown and Spectre CPU vulnerabilities present in every modern computer processor. But while the new MeltdownPrime and SpectrePrime attacks prove that the initial exploits aren’t necessarily the only way to trigger the vulnerabilities lurking inside chips, everyday computer users shouldn’t freak out about them. The new vulnerabilities pit the multiple CPU cores inside modern processors against each other and take advantage of the way memory cache access works in multi-core systems. The Register’s synopsis and the research paper have more in-depth…
