Devolver Digital announced Metal Wolf Chaos XD, a remaster of Dark Souls developer From Software’s 2004 Xbox game. The original game was only released in Japan. Metal Wolf Chaos XD will be released later this year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This is the second From Software project featured at E3 2018, with the first being Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which was on Microsoft’s stage and is being published by Activision. The Elder Scrolls VI is officially in development, Todd Howard announced at Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference. An extremely brief teaser was shown during the Sunday night press conference, showing only the logo. Bethesda clearly knew they were dropping the mic with the reveal, as this was the final reveal of the show. Watch the reveal trailer below: Howard described The Elder Scrolls 6 as “the game after” their upcoming next-gen game, Starfield, which suggests it won’t come out until at least 2020 (assuming Starfield arrives in 2019). “It’s the one you keep asking about,” he said to immediate audience…

Bethesda Game Studios has revealed its brand-new ‘next-gen’ game, Starfield. Todd Howard took the stage and revealed that this next-gen game would be a third open-world pillar next to Fallout and Elder Scrolls, and is the studio’s “first wholly original franchise in 25 years.” The tease was incredibly short, but Howard did say, “Starfield is a game that we have spent years thinking about and working on. Something we feel uniquely positioned to pull off and that we’re incredibly excited about. But we’re also building toward the game after that. And it’s the one you keep asking about.” Though he didn’t clarify,…

Recently, I ransacked the IGN game library for physical copies of every Battlefield going all the way back to 1942. As I worked my way through the series, a pattern began to emerge: for every innovative entry there was an iterative one. For every Battlefield 2, there was a Battlefield 2142 that, while thematically distinct, did little to advance the series mechanically. So when I sat down to play Battlefield V at EA Play I was fully expecting Battlefield 1 with building. What I got was a sneak peek at the most revolutionary Battlefield in the last decade. The sheer…

At Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, Todd Howard announced that Fallout 4 is now available on Xbox Game Pass. Additionally, Tom Clancy’s The Division and The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited were added to the Xbox Game Pass library, available today (June 10). Forza Horizon 4, Crackdown 3, Ashen, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, Afterparty, and more upcoming titles will go into the Xbox Game Pass catalogue on the same day of release. Microsoft is leaning into Xbox Game Pass’s popularity by leveraging machine learning expertise “and a way to start your games twice as fast.” Called FastStart, it’s two times faster than…

EA announced a push toward streamed gaming at its E3 2018 conference, followed by Microsoft announcing similar plans of its own at its conference today. Those come hot on the heels of the very unexpected release of Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version, an exclusively streamed version of a game that assumedly wouldn’t have been able to run on the Switch’s hardware natively. This surprisingly widespread push toward streaming games to devices instead of running them natively paints a strange and somewhat scary vision of the possible future of gaming. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot even recently said that the next console generation…
