An updated physical release of Sonic Mania titled Sonic Mania Plus has been revealed, complete with new playable characters and modes. SEGA announced the edition during the SXSW Sonic the Hedgehog panel and later posted to the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter feed. The new edition is coming in Summer 2018. The updated game will feature an all-new four player competition mode, as well as an “Encore Mode.” No details about the new modes have been revealed so far. Jurassic World Evolution, the dinosaur park management strategy game based on the beloved film franchise, is only a couple of months from release. Evolution will be released on June 12 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, as outed by Instagram user failcube (spotted by PlayStation Lifestyle) in a photo taken from a recent preview event. Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time will be released on May 15 in the Americas and Europe. In addition to announcing the release date, Bandai Namco unveiled the game’s opening cinematic, which you can watch below: The game is a side-scrolling action RPG that features an original story based in the world of Trigger’s popular anime series, Little Witch Academia, which was among the nominees for IGN’s 2017 Anime of the Year. Omega Labyrinth Z, a JRPG from Japanese studio Matrix Software and published by PQube, has been banned in the UK. It’s the first title to have been banned in the country since 2007, when Manhunt 2 was refused classification. Oddworld Inhabitants is teasing a reveal for March 20 that looks like it might just be related to their Abe’s Exoddus remake, Oddworld: Soulstorm. Soulstorm was announced back in 2016 with an expected 2017 release date. It follows on from 2014’s New n’ Tasty, which was a remake of the original 1997 title, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. The teaser is only a brief seven seconds long, but going through it frame-by-frame reveals some gorgeous concept art (including a piece for the Soulstorm brewery) as well as the words “explore his origins”. Earlier this week, the family of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking confirmed that he had passed away at his Cambridge home, aged 76. EVE Online players are paying tribute by lighting beacons across the game’s interstellar expanse. Far Cry 5 will ship with microtransactions, albeit only for cosmetic items. Ubisoft PR confirmed the news to GameSpot, saying that the microtransactions will be available in the game’s single-player, co-op and head-to-head multiplayer modes. Players can opt to speed up their progression with microtransactions, but Ubisoft has confirmed that they will not affect actual gameplay. Further, Far Cry 5 Executive Producer Dan Hay confirmed that the game’s single-player campaign will be fully playable offline. An internet connection will still be necessary for the games multiplayer modes, including the feature-filled Arcade mode, which offers an absurdly detailed map editor. Continue…

A hidden use for the Nintendo Switch HD Rumble system has been found in Kirby Star Allies. Warning: Spoilers follow for Kirby Star Allies As shown in this video from GameXplain, the secret stage that unlocks after beating the game contains a switch that plays the Green Greens theme… via the Switch controller. It appears that the game utilizes the haptic motors in the Joy-Con/Pro Controller to recreate the famous Kirby melody.
