Dreams is a hard game to explain. It is a game, but it’s also a creation tool, a social network, a film studio, a music editor, and so much more, all wrapped into a single package. While Media Molecule has defined Dreams in the past, at PSX this weekend, the studio dove far, far deeper into what creators are actually capable of making with Dreams, and how much potential it has to be an absolute game-changer as a creation tool. When you start Dreams, you’ll choose an Imp, a small avatar that essentially serves as your cursor and allows you…

Covering mature themes in video games is hard. It’s hard to do it right, without gamifying what might be a horrific event to make it more ‘entertaining’ for players, and it’s hard because the world outside of the video game bubble can be so hostile in response to it. In fact, the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Australia recently called for a harsh rating for Detroit: Become Human, saying “violence against women and children is not entertainment.” A professor at the Queensland University of Technology followed that story up by saying “…it does feed into…

The almost entirely sparse and dull content of Curse of Osiris for Destiny 2 makes it one of the most disappointing Destiny additions to date. It includes a brief two- to three-hour campaign with a hollow story, a tiny public space with little to do, and two new multiplayer maps (three on PlayStation 4). Its only saving grace is the fantastic Raid Lair activity, which offers real challenges, unique puzzles, and high-level loot. The unexciting campaign takes you inside the new Infinite Forest area of Mercury (when you’re not completing a fetch quest on one of the existing destinations) and…

After releasing an eerie 30 second teaser during Thursday night’s Video Game Awards, FromSoftware quickly drummed up fan speculation as to what their next game might be. While Hidetaka Miyazaki, President of From and all around Souls guru, has stated multiple times that he’s uninterested in revisiting the Souls series for the time being, that doesn’t necessarily rule it out entirely. Here are our best guesses as to what “Shadows Die Twice.” might actually be pointing to. CHECK OUT THE TEASER ABOVE BEFORE MOVING ON. Remember Shadow Tower? Of course you don’t. That’s because Shadow Tower is the deepest of…
