Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S9 family has arrived with what Samsung is calling a “reimagined” camera. Just like the Galaxy S8 before it, the main rear camera on the S9+ features a Dual Pixel 12MP sensor with Optical Image Stabilization. But this time around, Samsung has introduced Dual Aperture technology as well. Is it a game changer? That’s what I intended to find out.Dan Masaoka/IDG All our testing mimics how people use phones in the real world. To read this article in full, please click herePowered by WPeMatico

Mario Tennis Aces’ release date may have just been revealed thanks to leaked box art that places the launch on June 22. The box art and some leaked screenshots were posted over on ResetEra, seemingly coming from a now-deleted Rakuten Books entry for the game. Listings often appear ahead of official release date reveals, and today’s Nintendo Direct seems a likely place for that. Mario Tennis Aces was announced earlier this year, with a Spring 2018 release window. The official last day of Spring falls on June 21, so it’s entirely possible that the date is serving as a placeholder. Continue reading…Powered by…

If you want a hint of how fragile our tech-reliant world is, look no further than the Oculus Rift. This morning, Rift owners the world over discovered that their $400 virtual reality headset had become a paperweight overnight—at least temporarily. (Update: A fix is now available. See instructions after our description of the core issue below.) Seems as though Oculus uh…forgot(?) to issue an updated Windows certificate, the security feature that confirms that, yes, Oculus’s software is actually Oculus’s software. As Microsoft’s decade-old primer puts it, “Digital certificates function similarly to identification cards such as passports and drivers’ licenses.” That’s a…

The Nintendo Switch has sold over 3,800,000 units in Japan during the course of its debut year. By comparison, PS4 managed 1.1 million consoles sold in its first 12 months. DualShockers reports the figures for week ending March 4 – via Media Create – which illustrates the huge divide between the two consoles’ first years’ sales. So far, the Switch has sold 3,802,910 units, compared to the PS4’s 1,143,542 sold during its first year on the shelves in Japan. The Switch has sold over 14 million units globally since its March 2017 launch, already outselling the Wii U’s lifetime sales of 13.5…

Samsung’s Galaxy S9 is a strange breed of smartphone. With a Snapdragon 845 processor, great camera, and 18:9 screen, it has all the trappings of a fantastic 2018 handset. Yet, at the same time, it’s remarkably similar to the Galaxy S8 that it replaces. In fact, it’s so much like its predecessor, issues we might normally overlook become all the more obvious this second time around.Samsung’s hook with the Galaxy S9 is a “reimagined” camera, but the camera’s new features—namely Dual Aperture, Super Slow-mo, and AR Emoji—are equal parts gimmick and catch-up to competing models. And because Samsung is limiting…

On close inspection, the premise behind 2016’s Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You is a bit daft. An episodic, choose-your-own-adventure visual novel/puzzle game of sorts developed by German indie team Osmotic Studios, the first season of Orwell introduced players to a powerful government surveillance system dubbed, well, Orwell. The system scrapes together information from all corners of the game’s in-universe internet, from public social media accounts to news outlets and other third-party websites, and also allows us to snoop into private messages, emails, phone call transcriptions, and even the personal devices and files of persons of interest. The original Orwell,…

Today is International Women’s Day, and Sony is marking the occasion with a free PlayStation 4 theme celebrating their most iconic female characters. And that bear from Dreams.
