Pinball FX3 has a performance problem on Nintendo Switch, and the developer has confirmed that it’s unlikely to be fixed.
Many saw the opportunity to play in portable mode – which can use the Switch screen in portrait to show a full table – as a key feature for the game. Unfortunately, at launch the mode ran at a lower frame rate than on other versions, while its resolution made some tables look terrible when in docked mode. A patch was promised, but never arrived.
Zen Studios posted an update on Reddit addressing the community’s issues – the long and short of it is that it would involve too much work to get the game to 60 frames per second in handheld mode, and the studio says it doesn’t have the resources.
