This week Nintendo revealed its brand new and incredibly unique take on video game controllers, the Nintendo Labo. Labo is a fully buildable, almost entirely cardboard way to create and customize video game controllers by hand. We dug through the reveal trailer to find every little secret we could, so let’s take a look at what Labo is all about.
0:00-0:19 – Nintendo Labo’s pricing model is $70 for the Variety Kit, $80 for the Robot Kit. The Variety and Robot Kits both come with a physical copy of a Switch game containing Labo games and software, so it’s not like you’re spending $80 on cardboard.
0:24 – These cardboard kits pop out from their flat templates and fold together using notches, tabs and simple construction elements like string and rubber bands. You won’t need any glue to assemble these like a high end model kit.
