UPDATE: The original release incorrectly stated the Mega Man X cart comes in Opaque Light Blue. iam8bit reached out to us to let us know the Mega Man X carts actually come in Opaque White. We’ve updated the article with this new info.
In celebration of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Mega Man franchise, Capcom and iam8bit have teamed up to recreate the magic of two of the series’ finest entries.
Series high-water marks Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X are getting new releases on cartridges. The carts work on the original hardware or on any of the numerous devices designed to play original cartridge games on modern television sets.
Similar to the last iam8bit/Capcom collaboration on Street Fighter II special edition cartridges, these carts come in two different colors. There are 7,500 “Opaque Light Blue” carts per game for Mega Man 2, 7,500 Opaque White for Mega Man X, and the “Translucent, Glow-in-the-Dark Blue” ones are limited to a mere 1,000 each.
