Following fan outcry, Bungie has announced that it will change certain decisions that lock Destiny 2 players out of certain content if they don’t own the new Curse of Osiris expansion.
In a blog post, Bungie admits that it’s “clear that we’ve made some mistakes” with its handling of content access, and promises that these issues will be fixed in a patch scheduled to go live today, December 12.
The Curse of Osiris expansion raised the power levels required for Prestige activities from 300 to 330, locking out players who haven’t bought the cap-raising expansion pack. Bungie’s reasoning is that it wanted its activities to “remain relevant to players as they grow more powerful”, referencing a common complaint from the first game that early activities like the Vault of Glass lost relevance as players advanced. The idea behind raising the power cap was to ensure that Normal Raids and Nightfalls would remain accessible, but Prestige would always provide a challenge, and would therefore require players to be up-to-date with the latest expansions.
